SPARTAN SPEAR AND GERMANIC HAMMER

THE BATTLE OF THERMOPYLAE - 380 BC

We probably have all seen the movie "300". King Leonidas leading a mixed force of Greek and Spartan Hoplites move across ancient Greece to try and interdict an invading Persian force that may number as high as a couple of million. Leonidas chooses his ground for battle after his scouts report to him that yes indeed, the Persian fleet has landed ahead with a massive invasion fleet. The ground chosen, Thermopylae or Hot Gates, named for the natural hot springs that were active there, provides a very narrow pass that a few could defend against many. To the north of this defensive ground were steep cliffs rising from the pass and to the south were cliff side also, dropping steeply into the Aegean sea. A perfect bottleneck.
Recognizing the fact that the Greek states needed warning of this massive invasion force that would surely steamroll across the Northern plains and knock over each Greek state like dominoes, Leonidas sends the Greek contingent back home to sound alarm. He and his chosen warriors, all 300 or so, all hand picked, will be the only obstacle between Persian domination of the Mediterranean Sea and the loss of the Greek culture forever. The Spartans hold out for three days and inflict heavy losses in time, men and material on the Easterners. The Greek states are warned and able to form a defensive stand. And as history would later see, this stand by incredibly brave, and yes highly trained deadly men, marks the point in the stream of time when Democracy was simultaneously birthed and preserved for countless millions who would later be born. Persia never ventures forth again towards global domination and the West never loses global dominance even to this day.

THE BATTLE OF TOURS - 732 AD

Militant Islam, moving Westward at a blinding pace, bringing what is now northern Saudi Arabia, Egypt(pausing to destroy the Great Library of Alexandria)and north Africa under the Caliphate, crosses the Strait of Gibraltar and enters the Iberian peninsula(Spain). After a 10 year campaign, the Pyrenees Mountains, the natural border between France and Spain, are crossed by the Muslim invaders. The Germanic tribes before them fall, unable to put up a united defense. Enter Charles, later known as the hammer(Charles Martel)the grandfather of the Great Germanic leader Charlemagne. Charles Martel unites the Christian tribes of central and northern Gaul(France)and confronts the forces of Islam at Tours(modern day Poitiers)crushing them in a day long battle of epic proportions, in which the military leadership of the invading force is destroyed. The Muslims are pushed back across the mountains and never re-invade militarily. This battle, historians agree, preserved Christianity in Europe and thus preserved it for Spain, Canada, Mexico, United States and the rest of the world and for ages to come, God willing.

MODERN MILITANT ISLAM

Today, the Persian Empire is killing Western Christians Soldiers in Iraq, wanting to spread its form of militancy worldwide, using its Special Forces(the Quds)and the expertise they bring in building IED's, etc., not to mention the friends they have in the United Nations. Militant Islam crossed into Western territory on September 11th, killing 3000 people, most Western Christians. The selected forces of one nation stand in that symbolic Thermopylaeic battlefield, not allowing them to pass and rendering great losses on them.

We have been told since the 1970's when the first acts of terrorism were perpetrated against our allies and the early 1980's against American troops in Beirut, that if we just sit and talk with them, ask them what they want and why do they hate us so much, that we could come to a consensus and an understanding. Bull crap. As we can see, history has shown that militant Islam is nothing new. And what is wanted is an everlasting victory over the Christian West. Something that has been violently denied them in the past...at least twice. Its the Western warrior that will stand in the pass like at Thermopylae. Its the free Christian warrior of Germanic heritage that seems to have been picked by history to stand in the way of militant Islam, just like at Tours. If dealt with now, and finally crushed, the West will never have to fear this enemy mindset again. But to do this, administer the final crushing blow, the West will have to do what it did not in 380 BC or in 732 AD, and that is pursue the enemy until they exist no more.
